Research hub for Reality Contact Architecture (RCA), a research series by Jerry D. Smith Jr., PsyD, Breakthrough Psychological Solutions, P.L.L.C.
Reality Contact Architecture examines how consequential information, disagreement, correction, independent judgment, and authenticated communications reach and influence decision-makers operating under concentrated wealth, status, family authority, or institutional power. This research series connects organizational psychology, family governance, behavioral decision research, and the responsible exercise of authority.
Developed by Jerry D. Smith Jr., PsyD through Breakthrough Psychological Solutions, P.L.L.C., RCA organizes nine governance domains into an integrated framework.
RCA proposes nine governance domains. These are proposed domains, not validated measures.
How open a principal is to hearing unwelcome information.
Whether people below decision-makers can raise concerns safely.
How rank and reputation shape which information gets through.
Whether decisions draw on more than a few trusted voices.
How well authority to decide is passed to those closest to the work.
How unofficial relationships and pressures shape formal choices.
Whether feedback is trusted enough to change what people do.
How lessons from past decisions are kept and used.
How communications are verified as genuine before they inform action.
A component assessment of governance under concentrated wealth and power.
RCA Research Series, White Paper 1, Version 1.0. October 24, 2026. 30 pages and 43 references.
This integrative conceptual white paper evaluates the evidence underlying nine components of Reality Contact Architecture. It connects research on power, employee voice, psychological safety, information filtering, independent advice, feedback, organizational memory, and authentication. It distinguishes support for component mechanisms from evidence that would be required to validate the integrated architecture. The paper examines rival explanations, boundary conditions, counterexamples, candidate indicators, testable hypotheses, and a staged research agenda for families, family offices, and other systems of concentrated authority. It supports careful inquiry and evidence-informed governance without asserting demonstrated efficacy for RCA.
This is a conceptual evidence synthesis and research agenda, not a peer-reviewed empirical validation of RCA or a diagnostic assessment. Proposed indicators and hypotheses require prospective testing. No independent endorsement is implied.
Future completed papers will appear here. Proposed research is not presented as published.
